Pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac is looking to lift ’em up, buttercream.
MacIsaac, owner of Buttercream Bakeshop in Washington, DC, is celebrating famous woman’s voices in a limited edition Valentine’s Day confection treat.
Women Crush Wednesday Bars feature the six women (including Samantha Bee’s “Men broke the country and now you need the ladies to come in & make it all better”) and their sayings perched on top of fudge brownies topped with whipped coconut pudding buttercream.
Other confection queens are Michelle Obama, Chrissy Teigen, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Mindy Kaling and Kristen Bell.
MacIsaac’s also serving up pastry versions of Faberge eggs, which coincide with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibit of the venerable art objects.
The DC chef got inspired last year, when the Russian Embassy in Washington ordered 150 custom, and edible, Faberge Eggs. The handcrafted creations were inspired by Peter Carl Faberge, court jeweler to Russia’s imperial family and are even more valuable today: US sanctioned oligarch Viktor Vekselberg — who has been investigated by Robert Mueller’s Russia probe — famously paid $ 100 million to buy some of the real eggs back and gift them to the Kremlin.)
MacIsaac’s edible versions feature flavors like chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and chocolate Buttercream; and almond cake with strawberry jam and strawberry buttercream.
It took more than 300 hours of decorating time to complete this egg order — in addition to the actual baking and assembly time.
